Launch Party!

August 5th, 2019 will always hold a special place in this writer’s heart. An author has only one debut book, and the release of A HEART’S DESIGN was definitely exciting. (If not a bit scary…)

But, if I’m going to be completely honest, August 13th–the night of my launch party–will always be the absolute highlight of 2019.

I tend to over-plan, over-worry, and then second-guess everything. My poor family, ha! So, it shouldn’t be surprising that leading up to my launch party there was a tiny bit of stress going on. Fortunately, we found an amazing place to host me (THANK YOU TWISTED SUGAR!) They have the most charming sweet shop that fit both my book and my personality 🙂 Plus, their cookies and Italian sodas are amazing!

Okay, remember that tiny bit of stress I mentioned? And that second-guessing?? Though some of it was in the party details and planning, it really all came down to an author’s biggest launch party fear: will anyone come? But you guys. THEY DID. So many friends and family and readers I didn’t know! It was both thrilling and humbling and something I’ll forever cherish.

For my giveaways, I’d wanted a way to choose winners randomly right there at the launch as each person came as well as somehow document who all attended… It would be tricky, and it took me a few days, but I finally had a lightbulb moment. And I’m going to totally pat myself on the back here because it worked brilliantly!!! INSTANT PHOTOS. The night was such a blur, and there is no way I would have been able to recall all who came to support me, but now I have a small instant photo of me and every person who came to remember forever and ever. (And because I know you are dying to know how this tied in the prizes, if the instant picture came out a mint green, they won something. Like I said, BRILLIANT 😉

As the night drew to a close, I had several people ask me if I thought the launch was a success and the answer was, and is, a gigantic yes! Not only did I get to see some of the people who were there at the beginning of my journey (I mean you, Adam, Matt, and Jessica) I sold out of each and every one of my books! Truly, the night was magic. Thank you.
